What is P.A.M. Fellowship?

Pan Asian Ministry is a fellowship group of the Chinese Community United Methodist Church in Oakland Chinatown. We are a group that meets periodically to explore how to develop a worship service that is Pan Asian in nature, to explore a progressive theology, and ways to promote social justice in the wider community, especially in those areas that speak to the needs of the Asian community. We find strength in the unity of our vision and our passion to see it begin to become a reality. We hope to be a resource to others who are interested in developing Pan Asian ministries.

Major Goals of PAM

1. To develop a Worship Service that is truly Pan Asian in nature, celebrating the traditions of Asian spirituality, enriching each other with the uniqueness of various cultures, and finding those places where God brings us together in faith.
2. To expound a progressive theology that looks deeply for the truths that God speaks to us today, through scripture and religious writings, using the Wesleyan model of Scripture, Tradition, Experience and Reason in discerning the will of God.
3. To be instruments of God’s peace by promoting social justice issues in the wider community, especially in those areas that speak to the needs of the Asian community.
